Training and assessment terms and conditions
Please ensure that you read and refer to the following documents for more detailed information:
- Participants Handbook [110KB PDF] [384KB DOCX] which gives an overview of our training and assessment services, support services, key policies, rights and responsibilities, and our appeals policy and procedure
- Recognition Kit Instructions [72KB PDF] [314KB DOCX] for details of verifier and weighbridge operator assessments
Enrolment and payment
Training course numbers are limited and places are allocated in order of receipt of enrolment forms and full payment.
We will confirm your enrolment once we receive both your completed enrolment and full payment of the course/assessment fee. Details of how to submit your enrolment and make full payment are found on our website.
Your enrolment is tentative until we provide you with confirmation of receipt of your payment. People with tentative bookings will not be allowed to attend training courses, be sent assessment materials or have assessments marked.
Cancellations and Refunds
To withdraw from a training course or assessment, you must give us two weeks’ notice in writing prior to the commencement date. The time of notice is from when we receive the written notice.
Training Courses
If you withdraw from a training course less than two weeks prior to the course commencement date, you must pay the whole of the course fee. However a substitute delegate may be nominated in writing.
If you withdraw from a training course up to two weeks prior to the course commencement date, we will refund your enrolment fee less a cancellation fee of $175.
Where we cancel a course for whatever reason, we will give you a full refund of your course fee.
Assessments
We will cancel your assessment if you send the National Measurement Institute (NMI) Administrator written notification that you wish to withdraw.
We may cancel your assessment if you have not submitted your evidence within six months of enrolment.
If you cancel an assessment before the assessment has begun, we will refund your assessment fee less a cancellation fee of $175. For clarity, an assessment is considered to have begun once we receive a completed recognition kit, we provide you with access to an online assessment or after an assessor has dispatched assessment material to you, whichever occurs first.
We do not grant any refunds once the assessment process has commenced or your assessment has been cancelled for failure to submit evidence.
We will give you a full refund if we fail to assess the evidence you submit for assessment.
Access to the premises and participant conduct
We grant you access to the premises where training is being held on condition that, while at the premises, you agree:
- to comply with all lawful and reasonable directions of staff
- to observe all requirements in regard to security and occupational health and safety
- not to disclose any information that you may learn in any manner other than as information provided as part of the event
Unique Student Identifier
To undertake a nationally recognised training course or assessment with NMI you must provide us with a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
USI are issued by the Student Identifiers Registrar (Registrar) under the Student Identifiers Act 2014 (Cth). If you do not already have a USI, you can obtain one by going to the USI website. If you require NMI to apply for a Unique Student Identifier on your behalf, you must ask us to do this in writing and tell us you have read the privacy statement on the USI website.
Please note that the USIs are subject to separate terms and conditions and NMI takes no responsibility for any information provided to the Registrar or the actions or inactions of the Registrar.
By providing your USI you grant NMI permission to access your USI and confirm its authenticity.
Copyright and intellectual property
We grant participants a non-assignable, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use the training and assessment material for private study purposes only. However, we retain copyright for all training and assessment material and intellectual property rights and ownership in any information disclosed in these materials.
Indemnity
You indemnify and hold harmless NMI from all claims, demands, suits, actions, loss, damage, costs and expenses that may arise as a consequence of loss, damage or injury that the participant may suffer whilst either attending the premises at which training is being held or undertaking the assessment process.
