Understanding impacts on Australian industry

Australia’s economic and national interests depend on secure, resilient and well‑functioning supply chains. Global events have the potential to affect a range of supply chains and input markets.

Our department is ensuring the government is well informed and able to respond effectively by:

  • engaging directly with industry representatives through forums, roundtables and regular stakeholder engagement
  • monitoring supply and demand pressures across key sectors
  • responding to emerging issues as they arise, in coordination with other government agencies
  • contributing economic, industry and market insights.

This engagement supports situational awareness and helps inform whole-of-government decision-making.

Coordinated response across government

Different government agencies are leading responses in their policy areas. We’ve listed the main activities that are helping industry and business manage supply chain issues.

Liquid fuels

Fertilisers and agricultural inputs

Support for business

The government helps support businesses and strengthen economic resilience in periods of global uncertainty.

  • business.gov.au

What Australian businesses need to know about the government’s response.
  • Economic Resilience Program

Interest-free loans from the National Reconstruction Fund to support industries and supply chains impacted by market disruptions.
  • Export Finance Australia

Finance to help exporters and businesses manage risk and access new opportunities.

Other affected sectors

We continue to work with portfolio partners and other agencies on impacts across other sectors where global disruption may affect Australian industry, manufacturing or resources supply chains.
