Possible ideas include custom vending machine, and a billy cart with electronic control systems. Four groups of five students will work with a Broader Learning project mentor over 20 weeks to build their STEM project incorporating hardware and software. These projects will be then exhibited and demonstrated at Newcastle Museum to promote STEM more broadly. Primary and high school students and schools from across Australia will also be able to access the online project logbooks, guides, videos and instructions in order to recreate, remix or create their own STEM maker projects with the Broader Learning Student Maker Projects as reference or inspiration. |

Wagga Wagga City Council through the Museum of the Riverina is co-creating an exhibition that will present youth participants from the Sturt Public School with a range of historical scenarios. The participants are expected to use modern technologies and applications to understand these scenarios and interpret them for an exhibition. The museum will co-ordinate workshops with experts from the Australian Institute of Policy and Science for the student participants. Other schools will be invited to additional workshops held at the Museum during 2018 and in the summer school holidays 2018-19 when the exhibition is open. Students will apply STEM knowledge to solve problems, and then communicate these solutions to an audience. The disciplines to be included are 3D printing, coding, robotics, animation and website development. |
