This project builds on the existing collaboration between IHI, a Japanese supplier of post-combustion CO2 capture technology, CSIRO and AGL Loy Yang supported through Brown Coal Innovation Australia. In that collaboration an amine based Post Combustion CO2 Capture pilot plant has been designed and manufactured in Japan and delivered to AGL Loy Yang power station, where it will be operated in two 5000 hour experimental campaigns to assess the energy performance and amine degradation. The proposed project will extend that successful collaboration into an assessment of the plant's atmospheric emissions. Solid knowledge around the emissions from an amine-based Post Combustion CO2 Capture plant is crucial for future large scale application and deployment of the technology.
