Gilgandra High School's maker space will be a permanent space designed for the use of junior STEM classes, Tech Mandatory classes, maker days for the local primary schools (to further embed our transition program) and for the use of students during lunch times. As the maker space will be located in the schools library it will be accessible by all students during their lunch times in order to use play as an opportunity to develop skills in design, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. As the library is a whole of school centre, the enhancement of this area will facilitate teachers to use the space when required. The space will have maker benches with stools, storage, students workbooks and technological devices. The space will also include a SMART Board and will be used in conjunction with the other areas of the library including the research space and the thinker space. This will allow students to engage in practical, creative and entrepreneurial thinking whilst applying their STEM knowledge.
