James is based at the Australian Embassy in Washington DC.
James supports Australia’s partnership with the United States and Canada on industry policy.
This includes:
- enhancing cooperation on secure and diverse supply chains for critical minerals and resources
- engaging on safe and responsible critical technologies development and use
- growing our shared industrial bases
- facilitating science, research and space collaboration.
He is a senior leader with experience designing and delivering complex industry, technology, economic security, and national policy priorities. His work spans critical technologies, sovereign capability, industry competitiveness, net zero, emissions reduction, and energy and manufacturing transitions. It also includes anti‑dumping, cabinet and budget processes, and national workforce and resources strategies.
James has led cross‑government and international engagement. This includes multilateral cooperation through the Quantum Development Group and strengthening bilateral ties with the United States and other key partners.
