Dr Bruce Warrington leads a team of more than 400 employees at the National Measurement Institute (NMI), the Australian Government’s national authority on measurement.

Bruce has been with NMI since it was formed in 2004, working in a variety of roles before taking on the responsibilities of Chief Metrologist from September 2017 to October 2025 and CEO from May 2018.

A graduate of the University of Otago in New Zealand, he completed a DPhil in atomic physics research at Oxford in the UK. He worked with CSIRO in Sydney on the development of atomic clocks.
