The Australian Government appointed Mr David Latina as commissioner in January 2025.

David leads the commission in its work to ensure Australian industry can compete on a level playing field. Following transparent and evidence-based investigations, he advises the minister on whether anti-dumping, countervailing or safeguard measures should be imposed. His priorities include promoting a more effective, timely and accessible trade remedies system.

David joined the commission from the Victorian Government, where he served at Deputy Secretary level. He brings extensive senior executive experience spanning industry development, investment, trade and economic policy across a diverse range of manufacturing and service sectors.

Throughout his career, David has worked closely with industry to strengthen capability, support investment and support local job opportunities. He has provided authoritative economic policy advice at the highest levels of government and led the delivery of major public programs. These include Victoria’s skills and training system.

David holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.
