The venture capital dashboard gives broad statistics on partnerships registered under the Venture Capital Act 2002 programs. It serves as a key resource for program and policy representatives, venture capitalists and academics. It can also help anyone who wants to better understand venture capital investment under the programs.
Venture capital is a critical mechanism for financing new and innovative companies. When early-stage businesses gain access to both capital and people with skills and experience in the commercialisation process, their chances of success greatly increase. The Australian Government has designed the venture capital programs to foster this growth. Programs work with private venture capital fund managers to give capital and professional knowledge to innovative businesses. Programs include:
- Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnerships (ESVCLPs)
- Venture Capital Limited Partnerships (VCLPs).
We have also published the ESG State of Play report for the first time. This report presents findings from a pilot program done in collaboration with a limited number of venture capital firms across Oceania. The initiative collected environment, social, and governance (ESG) data from portfolio companies that range from pre-seed to series C+ stages, using the ESG_VC framework. UK-based group Reframe Venture administers ESG_VC. Ten venture capital firms voluntarily participated in the program, representing a subset of Australia’s broader VC ecosystem. Not all operate an ESVCLP or VCLP. We oversaw data input and reporting, with the Australian Investment Council playing a coordinating role.
