We received conditional approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) for phase 1 of the Northern Endeavor decommissioning program.
We continued to make progress during the 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026 reporting period.
During this period we:
- completed phase 1 decommissioning activities including:
- disconnecting the Northern Endeavour floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) from the subsea infrastructure
- towing the FPSO to Singapore for additional works.
- complied with and reported on the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) approval EPBC ref 2022/09327 Northern Endeavour Phase 1 Decommissioning.
The phase 1 lead contractor, Petrofac Facilities Management Limited, continues to monitor the Laminaria and Corallina oil fields for the department.
In conjunction with Petrofac, we developed a series of detailed management plans for activation in case of an incident, non-compliance or emergency occurring.
We maintained a Northern Endeavour crisis management team, along with Petrofac’s incident management team. These teams were ready to activate in case of an emergency.
