Streamlining data submission
ARWA will continue streamlining the data collection process and ensuring this valuable resource is available and shared broadly.
Further refinements include continuing to explore and address any legislative and process barriers that may be preventing waste holders from sharing their inventory data.
Future considerations also include assisting and supporting waste holders to both use the inventory as a resource, and support their understanding and recording of waste.
Improving data accuracy and understanding relies on the ongoing collaboration between ARWA and waste holders.
Waste characterisation
ARWA seeks to better understand waste holder plans for waste characterisation, management and disposal. We are investigating waste characterisation options with waste holders to improve waste inventory data over time.
A more detailed understanding of waste properties and characteristics will help inform and assess the suitability of potential disposal pathways for different types of waste.
ARWA acknowledges the significant contribution of waste holders who provided information for this report. We look forward to continuing to collaborate to develop disposal pathways for radioactive waste in Australia.
