Agnieszka (Aggie) Marek
Deputy Commissioner – Strategy and Operations

Aggie leads the Strategy and Operations Branch. Her leadership ensures the Commission operates with strategic clarity, operational excellence, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.

In this role she oversees a diverse portfolio encompassing:

  • strategic operations
  • data governance and analytics
  • organisational capability and workforce development
  • stakeholder engagement and outreach
  • development and implementation of operational policy and practice. 

Aggie brings over 20 years’ experience from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission where she held senior roles across regulatory, enforcement and policy areas. Most recently, she served as Executive Director in Mergers Investigations, managing complex merger reviews and contributing to the implementation of Australia’s new merger laws, set to commence in 2026.

With expertise across a wide range of industries, Aggie is passionate about ensuring fair and competitive markets. She is a strong advocate for data-informed decision-making, organisational capability building, and delivering high-quality public outcomes. Her work is grounded in a commitment to integrity, transparency, and public service.

Aggie holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tasmania and a Practising Certificate in Legal Practice.
