Sam Chard
Head of Division, Business Grants Hub

Sam Chard has over 13 years’ experience in senior executive roles. She has overseen policy development, program implementation, operations and corporate services.

Sam is Head of Division, Business Grants Hub, which is part of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources. The Business Grants Hub helps government agencies to design and deliver grants programs. Sam oversees more than $10 billion in grant funding to over 90,000 businesses for 11 Commonwealth departments.

She established the department’s integrity capability and received a Public Service Medal for her work to build Australia’s radioactive waste management capability. Sam also led a taskforce to secure Australia’s supply of COVID-19 PCR tests. Before working with the department, she held a range of senior executive roles in national security.

Sam is the Disability and Integrity Champion for the department. She is also a:

  • Member of the IPAA Council
  • Senior Executive representative for the Territories Stolen Generation Redress Scheme
  • Gateway Reviewer for the Department of Finance.

Sam is a regular speaker at the APS Academy.
