Understanding the information needs, concerns and aspirations of people affected by mining developments is an important component of early and effective community engagement.
This research report:
presents the outcomes of novel research on trust and acceptance of mining activities at the initial phase of engaging with communities
shows that providing information on economic benefits and engagement processes has small though significant positive effects on a range of factors underlying a mining company’s social licence to operate
CSIRO prepared this report for the Resources Policy Group as part of a set of projects on improving community confidence and acceptance of the minerals resources industry. It represents phase 2 of research on stakeholder engagement.
