Main content area

Publication Date:
1 September 2018
Understanding the information needs, concerns and aspirations of people affected by mining developments is an important component of early and effective community engagement.
This research report:
- presents the outcomes of novel research on trust and acceptance of mining activities at the initial phase of engaging with communities
- shows that providing information on economic benefits and engagement processes has small though significant positive effects on a range of factors underlying a mining company’s social licence to operate
CSIRO prepared this report for the Resources Policy Group as part of a set of projects on improving community confidence and acceptance of the minerals resources industry. It represents phase 2 of research on stakeholder engagement.
Authors: Rod McCrea, Andrea Walton and Tom Measham (CSIRO).
