Review of the socioeconomic impacts of coal seam gas in Queensland

This review analyses the impacts of coal seam gas (CSG) development on communities in Queensland.

CSG is the dominant source of Queensland’s natural gas production. The development of this industry has had a large effect on local communities.

The report includes a literature review supported by interviews and workshops with industry stakeholders. It covers:

  • forecasts of impacts
  • statistical analyses of census and other data.

The analysis presents both economic and broader community impacts. It also draws on a range of insights and conclusions about the experience of CSG development in the state.
