Manufacturing funding

We provide funding to help Australian manufacturers grow, innovate and compete.

Funding supports projects that:

  • adopt new technologies
  • commercialise new products and processes
  • integrate into supply chains
  • create jobs.

Funding is available under the Modern Manufacturing Strategy.

Modern Manufacturing Initiative

The Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI) provides co-funded grants to help Australian manufacturers scale-up, compete internationally and create jobs.

Funding opportunities align with the 6 national manufacturing priorities.

Manufacturing Translation stream

The first round of funding for this stream is closed.

Additional funding rounds will be announced in the future.

This stream helps Australian manufacturers turn good ideas into commercial outcomes.

It aims to:

  • support projects that translate high quality research into commercial outcomes
  • encourage businesses to adopt new technologies and improve their manufacturing processes
  • support businesses to scale-up and become more competitive and resilient.

Manufacturing Integration stream

The first round of funding for this stream is closed.

Additional funding rounds will be announced in the future.

This stream helps Australian manufacturers’ access domestic and global supply chains.

It aims to:

  • support projects that integrate Australian businesses into domestic or global value chains
  • encourage links between local businesses and international firms
  • facilitate product standards, sharing and knowledge transfer.

Manufacturing Collaboration stream

This stream's funding is closed.

This stream will provide funding for very large projects that support business-to-business and business-to-research collaboration.

It aims to:

  • encourage businesses to work together
  • leverage the strength of Australian research sector.

Supply Chain Resilience Initiative

Funding is now closed.

The Supply Chain Resilience Initiative (SCRI) provides funding to help Australian businesses address supply chain vulnerabilities for critical products.

Funding opportunities align with a Sovereign Manufacturing Capability Plan.

Manufacturing Modernisation Fund

The Manufacturing Modernisation Fund (MMF) provides co-funded grants to help Australian manufacturers to modernise and upskill.

Funding opportunities align with the 6 national manufacturing priorities.

MMF round 2

This round’s funding is closed.

This round supports small to medium manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) by co-funding capital investments and associated reskilling to:

  • adopt new technologies
  • encourage innovation
  • become more productive and competitive in the market
  • create more jobs.

MMF round 1

Commercialisation Fund

This fund is open and ongoing.

The Commercialisation Fund co-funds industry projects to commercialise innovation.

It supports projects that:

Certain Inputs to Manufacture

This fund is open and ongoing.

The Certain Inputs to Manufacture (CIM) program helps reduce import costs for Australian manufacturers of eligible goods.

It aims to support manufacturers who import:

  • chemical, plastics and paper goods
  • metal materials and goods used in food packaging.
