Each year the National Measurement Institute (NMI) celebrates and recognises outstanding measurement-related achievements. This year NMI will be offering three awards:

  • The Barry Inglis Medal (named after Australia’s first Chief Metrologist)
  • The NMI Prize
  • An inaugural People’s Choice Award.

Up to 6 applicants, including the award winners, are invited to give a presentation at a special public National Science Week event. The 2022 winners of the Barry Inglis Medal and NMI Prize will be announced at this event.

Each will receive $2,000 in prize money and a trophy. These will be presented at a time and location mutually agreeable to the winners and NMI.

Audience response to the presentations will be used to select the winner of a People’s Choice Award who will receive $500 in prize money and a trophy.
