We are transitioning to a new system for major project proponents with AIP plans under the Australian Jobs Act. Read about the changes.

Complete the project notification form

To submit a project notification to the AIP Authority, you must lodge a project notification form through the Industry Forms Portal.

You will need to create a user account on the portal, if you haven't already done so.

You can access the portal using either:

  • our department’s two‑factor authentication system
  • the Australian Government’s Digital ID (myID).

Create a new project notification form

Once you have logged into the portal:

  1. select ‘Create new submission’
  2. choose ‘Australian Industry Participation Authority (AIPA) Plan’.

Submit your project notification form

The portal will create a reference number:

  1. select ‘Project to create your project notification
  2. complete all required fields
  3. submit the form to the AIP Authority for review.

The portal will create a reference number automatically.

Trigger dates

You must submit the form within 60 days of the earliest of the following events:

  • The project concept design begins.
  • A project proponent starts an environmental assessment.
  • A project proponent enters into a contract with another person to carry out an environmental assessment of the project.
  • The raw materials for the project are estimated.
  • The utility consumption for the project is estimated.

At any other time you become aware your project may be a major project you must notify the AIP Authority within 14 days via the form.

The notification ensures the AIP Authority is aware of the project and can discuss with you:

  • the project timeframe (including the trigger date for the AIP plan)
  • AIP plan requirements
  • when to submit the draft AIP plan for approval.

After we receive your project notification form

Once your project notification form is received the AIP Authority will confirm the trigger date with you.

After all details are confirmed, you will receive an invitation to complete and submit your AIP Plan. All information provided in the project notification form is confidential and will not be published.

You must notify the AIP Authority if there is a change in the project proponent or if the project is discontinued, cancelled or postponed.
