Strategic management is an important capability for Australian businesses.
This research draws on new data on Australian management practices to construct four levels of strategic management:
- low engagement
- ad hoc
- narrow focus
The paper shows that Australian businesses with higher levels strategic management:
- are more likely to be innovative, seek out collaborative opportunities and respond to supply chain issues
- have higher levels of labour productivity
