Don’t waste a crisis

Dr Helena Popovic turns the idea of a crisis on its head, claiming that how we label something determines how we respond to it. While not denying the negative effects of crises, she says major disruptions can also serve as a time to pause. It’s also a time to reflect on what we want to be for ourselves and our community.

Drawing on research, she illustrates that disasters are challenges that provide the opportunity to sharpen our focus, get creative and stretch ourselves beyond our imagination. It’s all about how we frame it.

Thanks to Queensland’s BiiG network for inviting Dr Popovic to Innovation Month.
