The Australian Government is manufacturing a new future for our nation. Manufacturing is critical to a modern Australian economy—a key part of almost every supply chain that adds significant value to all sectors.

Under the Modern Manufacturing Strategy road maps for 6 key areas of focus have been developed with industry to set out plans for both industry and Government to strengthen Australia’s manufacturing capability. The road maps have been led by industry taskforces to identify and set a future vision for the priority areas with clear goals, opportunities and actions over the next 2, 5 and 10 years.

Funding available

The Modern Manufacturing Initiative is now open for food and beverage manufacturing projects that meet eligibility under its Translation and Integration streams.

The world wants to buy Aussie made food and beverages.

It is already the largest manufacturing sector in Australia.

But there are opportunities to further build on our international reputation for producing premium, safe and high-quality products to provide better return for our farmers and agriculture producers.

Food and Beverage is one of six priority areas under the Australian Government’s $1.5 billion Modern Manufacturing Strategy.

Businesses with projects in the priority area are now able to apply for support under our Modern Manufacturing Initiative.

Grants will be available for companies to commercialise new products and processes or integrate into domestic and global supply chains.

To guide funding applications, we have released an industry-led Food and Beverage road map.

The road map identifies a range of potential growth areas:

  • Smart food and beverage manufacturing
  • Innovative food and beverages
  • Food safety, origin and traceability systems
