The new framework will streamline the construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of offshore energy projects. This will encourage new investment and growth in Australia’s offshore electricity industry.
Interest in offshore renewable energy projects in Australia is increasing as technology improves and costs reduce.
The government committed $4.8 million to develop a fit-for-purpose framework. We consulted with industry, researchers and the community on the proposed framework in early 2020.
