The Critical Technologies Challenge Program invites solutions to market-led challenges of national significance using quantum technologies.

Round 2 will fund feasibility projects for 14 consortia, with grants totalling $5.74 million.

CTCP supports businesses to partner with Australian research organisations, technology end-users and other interested parties. It aims to accelerate commercialisation for quantum technologies from early-stage, when private capital is hard to secure.

Round 2 funding supports a diverse array of projects:

  • Angel Eyecare is leveraging quantum technology to create miniaturised eye diagnosis tools for use in regional and indigenous communities
  • Silicon Quantum Computing is developing a quantum-based AI accelerator to optimise consumer energy resources to reduce electricity costs
  • IUGOTEC is developing quantum-powered pest detection technology to enhance monitoring of invasive pests and improve biosecurity outcomes
  • Advanced Navigation is developing quantum-based integrated circuits for improved logistics and supply chain solutions.

The $35.9 million CTCP is a commitment of the National Quantum Strategy. It aims to drive greater awareness and uptake of quantum technologies in Australia by creating stronger ties between quantum researchers, quantum businesses and technology end-users across the economy.
