The Australian Government is manufacturing a new future for our nation. Manufacturing is critical to a modern Australian economy—a key part of almost every supply chain that adds significant value to all sectors.

Under the Modern Manufacturing Strategy road maps for 6 key areas of focus were developed with industry to set out plans for industry and government to strengthen Australia’s manufacturing capability. The road maps were led by industry taskforces to identify and set a future vision for the priority areas with clear goals, opportunities and actions over the next 2, 5 and 10 years.

The world is moving to more sustainable ways of using materials and energy to reduce emissions and waste.

The demand for greener supply chains is increasing and Australian manufacturers are well positioned to become competitive global players.

Recycling and Clean Energy is one of six priority areas under the Australian Government’s $1.5 billion Modern Manufacturing Strategy.

Businesses with projects in the priority area are now able to apply for support under our Modern Manufacturing Initiative.

Grants will be available for companies to commercialise new products and processes or integrate into domestic and global supply chains.

To guide funding applications, we have released an industry-led Recycling and Clean Energy road map.

The road map identifies a range of potential growth areas:

  • Making high-value products using recycled waste
  • Renewable energy technologies
  • Components for specialist batteries
  • Next-generation solar PV systems
