Commencing 23 November 2022, Narelle is Deputy Secretary (a/g), with responsibility for Manufacturing, Industry Growth, Science and Commercialisation Policy, Analysis & Insights divisions and the Office of Supply Chain Resilience.
In the former Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources Narelle led the Manufacturing Division.
Narelle’s division leads policy development to support Australian industry to be sustainable, resilient and to grow to its full potential. Responsibilities include the implementation of key initiatives that form the National Reconstruction Fund.
Previously in the department, Narelle oversaw the creation of the Technology and National Security Division that supports the growth and productivity of globally competitive businesses by developing and promoting cohesive national digital economy policies and programs.
Over the last 10 years Narelle has worked in both policy and implementation roles across various agencies, including the former Department of Immigration, Digital Transformation Agency, The Treasury and the ACT Government. She has also worked in the private sector, including as a management consultant for IBM. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma in Accounting.
Narelle lives on Ngunnawal country, in Canberra, where she is raising her two boys with her husband.
