Research funding round now open
Do you have ideas for research that could help to solve industry problems, stimulate business and create employment in northern Australia?
If so, the Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australian (CRCNA) is now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for funding to support collaborative research. The centre can commit up to $4.6 million in this funding round.
EOIs can be submitted by industry, researchers, business and community sectors interested in resolving problems facing northern Australian industries. The research should address one of three key industry areas:
- agriculture and food
- northern Australia health service delivery
- traditional owner-led business development
Manbulloo Limited – Australia’s leading producer of Kensington Pride and R2E2 mangoes – is partnering in a research project co-funded by the CRCNA to improve the way fruit producers get mangoes and other fruit to markets.
Manbulloo founder, Marie Piccone – Australia’s unofficial “mango queen” says “business opportunities and rewards in north Australia outweigh the challenges”. She has long been a believer in research and innovation to improve her company’s performance.
Manbulloo has improved its performance by exporting direct to Australian and global customers by streamlining the supply chain. And, Marie says automation in harvesting and packing has reduced the company’s costs by three quarters.
You can lodge an EOI before submissions close at 5pm AEST on 7 September 2018. Find out about the research projects the CRCNA has supported or lodge a submission on the CRNA website.
