The draft rules for the minimum stockholding obligation (MSO) for key transport fuels are now open for feedback.

The MSO will require fuel importers and refiners to maintain a baseline level of petrol, jet fuel and diesel stocks. Importers will be required to increase diesel stockholdings by 40% from 1 July 2024.

Our department will consider feedback we receive through this process. We’ll use the information to finalise the draft Rules for the Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction to consider and approve.

Read the exposure drafts and have your say on our Consultation hub.

Submissions are welcome until 28 February 2022.
