The government is calling for information to increase domestic fuel storage capacity. This call out is for industry to explore storage opportunities as part of Australia’s fuel security framework.
The framework aims to boost domestic capabilities through:
- buying crude oil at historically low prices
- supporting the refining sector in response to the impacts of COVID-19
- assessing the long-term outlook for the refining sector
- exploring opportunities with industry to increase domestic storage
This request for information (RFI) process is not an approach to market. However, submissions will play an essential role in forming the next stage of the fuel security program.
Submissions close on 10 July.
