The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme is the national framework for reporting company information about greenhouse gas emissions and energy production and consumption.

We are seeking feedback on draft amendments to NGER Scheme legislation as part of our program of continuous improvement. The draft amendments:

  • change how we calculate ‘Scope 2’ emissions, which arise from consuming grid electricity, to use more up-to-date information
  • allow NGER reporting on combustion of blended gas and biomethane
  • create 2 new fuel types for reporting on waste tyre combustion to support more accurate reporting
  • update a number of other reporting requirements.

We are interested in your views on the practical operation and application of these changes. Your feedback will help us finalise the draft amendment legislation.

Read more about the proposed changes and make a submission on our Consultation hub.

Submission close 29 April 2022.
