Summary of Selected NSRC survey metrics for 2012, 2013 and 2014

Notes:

  • All dollar values have been adjusted to 2014 prices.
  • In the 2014 data collection, research commercialisation staff (FTE) refers to dedicated commercialisation staff specifically involved with commercialisation, including dedicated marketing staff who handled marketing issues in a commercialisation context, such as marketing of technology in support of commercialisation, industry community engagement staff who initiated, negotiated and  managed contracts and consultancies or organised community information sessions, and other commercialisation support staff who prepared the drafting of license agreements and negations in support of commercialisation.
  • Data on contracts, collaborations and consultancy agreements only include collaborations in 2014.
  • There was a methodological change to the way in which start-up data was collected in 2014. In 2014, data on start-up company activity was collected through an administrative process instead of the NSRC survey. The collection method may have impacted 2014 data. From 2015, start-up company data will be collected through the NSRC instrument.
