Amending Agreement to the European Community-Australia Mutual Recognition Agreement

The Amending Agreement to the European Community-Australia MRA was signed on 23 February 2012 and came into force on 1 January 2013.

The Amending Agreement simplifies the MRA’s administrative arrangements, introduces greater flexibility into the agreement, removes the rule of origin restriction from all but two of the Sectoral Annexes, accords less-than-treaty status to the Sectoral Annexes and allows the Joint Committee administering the agreement to amend the Sectoral Annexes in a timelier manner in response to regulatory and industry developments.

The Amending Agreement should be read in conjunction with the original MRA to obtain a full understanding of the MRA’s provisions.
