Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre


The Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre, known as Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL), is building capability and encouraging collaboration and innovation in the Australian food and agribusiness sector.

Australia is well positioned to take advantage of the growing middle class in the Asia Pacific. Australian food and agribusiness already produces enough food to feed over 130 million people, five times its population. FIAL is working with its sector to grow the share of Australian food in the global marketplace.

The FIAL team and board all bring significant experience in the sector to their roles.

FIAL in action

FIAL released its updated Sector Competitiveness Plan in 2017. To achieve its vision, FIAL is working to:

  • Ensure industry have the confidence and capacity to use their knowledge, resources, workforce and capabilities to develop innovative, cost-effective and differentiated offerings to meet the wants and needs of Australian and international markets and consumers.
  • Foster a culture of connected, collaborative industry participants who proactively seek and utilise collaborations for national and international market and supply chain success.
  • Provide a cohesive industry voice which shapes policy, and identifies opportunities for regulatory reform that fosters industry-wide innovation and entrepreneurship, in partnership with government.
