The Australian Business Licence and Information Service (ABLIS) is a search tool for existing business operators and people considering starting a business.

ABLIS streamlines processes for business by providing access to industry specific information on:

  • licences
  • registrations
  • council approvals
  • codes of practice
  • fees in place.

Based on information provided by relevant agencies and departments, results are provided for commonwealth, state/territory and local council requirements.

Features of ABLIS

  • A guided search provides business operators with the compliance and support information to start, grow, or close their business.
  • A custom search also helps business operators find a specific form or service directly if they already know what they need with no need to go through the guided search
  • A suite of APIs are available, allowing ABLIS data to be incorporated into apps developed by state and territory jurisdictions or third party business advisory services. The APIs can be used to provide a seamless end-to-end experience within a jurisdiction’s existing user interface that is consistent with their branding.
  • Significant improvements have been made to the service to enhance the user experience including :
  • streamlined question and answer process to help business get the information they need specific to their business and circumstance
  • ensuring information is available on any device
