The National Greenhouse Accounts (NGA) Factors provides methods that help companies and individuals estimate greenhouse gas emissions. Our department publishes revised factors every year.

About the NGA Factors

The NGA Factors should not be used to meet reporting requirements under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act 2007. While the methods draw on the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008, companies can apply them to a broader range of emissions estimates.

This ensures consistency between inventories at the company or facility level, and the national level.

The methods we use at the national level, reflected in the factors, are consistent with international guidelines. They are subject to international expert review each year.
