Office of Northern Australia

The Office of Northern Australia (ONA) leads northern Australia agenda initiatives and policy.

The office is a branch in our department’s Northern Australia and Major Projects Division. We report to the Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia and the Assistant Minister for Northern Australia.

Our role and responsibilities

Our work includes:

Advisory group

The Northern Australia Indigenous Reference Group advises the government on priorities for northern Australia development. The group brings together representatives from across the north.

Joint Standing Committee

The Joint Standing Committee on Northern Australia conducts inquiries into northern development for Parliament or Ministers.
