Building Ministers' Forum
The Building Ministers' Forum (BMF) is a body of Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers responsible for building and plumbing regulation. The BMF oversees the implementation of nationally consistent building and plumbing regulation through the Intergovernmental Agreement for the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB). The BMF meets annually or on a needs basis. The Hon Karen Andrews MP, Assistant Minister for Science, is the current Chair of the BMF. The Building, Metals and Construction Section of the department provides Secretariat support for the BMF.
The last BMF was held on 19 February 2016 at Bond University on the Gold Coast. This meeting focused on strategies and measures to ensure the community can continue to have confidence in the safety of buildings in Australia.

Senior Officers’ Group on Non-conforming Building Products
The issue of non-conforming building products (NCBP), whether domestically manufactured or imported, is an important and complex issue. It can have life safety, health, economic, legal and social consequences.
To address this issue, the Building Ministers’ Forum established the Senior Officers’ Group (SOG) consisting of representatives from all jurisdictions to report on ways to minimise the risks to consumers, businesses and the community. The findings are outlined in the SOG’s report.
